Our mission is to combine personalized customer service with a commitment to working with only the highest-rated insurance carriers. This allows us to provide our clients with the best possible insurance experience – one with an open line of communication based on mutual trust and respect.


• History


  • Mr. Maurice. J. Schuetz, Sr. began M. J. Schuetz Agency, Inc. in 1943, in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.  Having been a surety bond underwriter for U S F & G for several years, he was used to working with construction companies, and decided to focus his agency on the construction industry.   For fourteen years, the agency had one employee (Mr. M. J. Schuetz, Sr.) and one part-time employee (Mrs. M. J. Schuetz, Sr.).  This changed in 1957, when their son, Maury (Jr.) joined the agency, and again in 1960, when their son-in-law, DV Pace joined the agency.



  • On January 1, 2012, the agency was purchased by long-term employees Vickie L. Wolcott and David A. Linthicum.   At that time, the name was changed to M. J. Schuetz Insurance Services, Inc. Today, M.J. Schuetz employs over 20 individuals with a combined 200 years of insurance experience.

M.J. Schuetz is proud to call downtown Indianapolis home and has done so since 1943. Our first office was in the Knights of Pythias Flatiron building at the corner of Pennsylvania Street and Massachusetts Avenue (where the Regions Building now stands). By 1969, we had relocated to the Fidelity Building (now Bank One), where employees shared cramped quarters as the agency continued to grow. In 1975, we moved into the fifth floor of the Circle Tower Building, located right on Monument Circle. After 45+ years and even greater company growth, we said goodbye to the fifth floor and hello to 16-Tech, where we reside today. Our new innovative facility allows us to better serve our clients as we continue to grow.

Staff Directory

Vickie has been with M.J. Schuetz Insurance Services for over 40 years. She graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a double major in Business Administration and Economics, and began working full-time at M.J. Schuetz immediately after college. She worked her way up from receptionist, certificate of insurance typist, bond typist, claim processor, bookkeeper, account executive, and, today, President and Owner. Vickie currently holds her P&C, Life & Health, and surplus lines licenses. She also attended the NASBP surety school, and Insurance 21, 22, and 23. In 2014, Vickie was recognized by her peers for her service to the insurance industry, and was awarded the Harry P. Cooper Public Image Award by the Big I (IIAI).


• Vickie is the Past President, Treasurer and Board Member of the Indianapolis Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). She previously served on the Board of Directors, and as the chairperson of the Youth in Construction Committee for the Indiana Subcontractors  Association.  Vickie also served on the  Membership Committee for Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). She was a past Liaison for the Construction Round Table.  She has served on the Agent council for Accident Fund Insurance Company and currently serves on the Agent council for Frankenmuth Insurance Company.    She has been very active with the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana, serving on their state Board of Directors, then as association secretary,  treasurer, vice president, president and currently as immediate past president.   Vickie has been a member of the Rotary Club of Indianapolis for over 25 years,  where she served as chairperson of the membership committee, as well as served on the Board of Directors.

Dave has been with M.J. Schuetz since 1995. A graduate of Harrison College, FKA Indiana Business College, with a degree with Accounting and Business Management, Dave went on to attend William J. Angell Surety School, Levels 1-3. In his time at M.J. Schuetz, Dave has honed his skills as an account manager and bond producer, and today he is one of the top insurance and surety agents for contractors in the state of Indiana. In 2012, Dave, along with Vickie Wolcott  became part-owner of M.J. Schuetz Insurance Services, and in 2015 he took on the title of Sr. Vice President.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Construction Family Assistance Foundation (CFA Foundation).

Stella has worked at M.J. Schuetz since 2004, with 35 years of insurance experience. In 2015, Stella was appointed Assistant Vice President. She holds both her INS and IACSR designations.

Jenni began working with M.J. Schuetz in 2001, and she has 23 years of insurance industry experience. She is a 3-time Gold Award of Excellence recipient from the Surety Information Office for Surety Bond Promotion, and she holds her Associate in Fidelity & Surety Bonding Designation from the AICPCU, in addition to being a Notary Public.


Jenni is the current Vice-Chair of the Automation & Technology Committee for the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP). She is also the leader of the surety forms working group, comprised of surety professionals throughout the nation working to advance technology for the industry. Jenni served for five years as an officer of the Surety Association of Indiana. She is also the Treasurer and a volunteer for the Indiana Dream Team, a not-for-profit association.

Pamela began working with M.J. Schuetz in 2014, and has over 18 years of insurance experience. She is a graduate of Harrison College, FKA Indiana Business College, and holds a degree in Accounting and Business/Management. She also attended several drama courses at DePauw University. Pamela holds the CISR designation, and is a Notary Public. She is currently working towards becoming fluent in American Sign Language.

Michael has worked with M.J. Schuetz since 2004. He is a graduate of IUPUI, Kelley School of Business with a degree in Business/Marketing, and Plainfield High School. He specializes in contractors (including roofers, excavators, electricians, plumbers, etc.) and surety bonds. In his free time, he participates in several recreational sports leagues.
